I’m celebrating a milestone today that isn’t just about numbers. It’s about faithfulness, healing, resilience, and what can happen when you keep going—even when life takes almost everything away.
The CupofMood Shop now holds over 4,000 cups, mugs, and glasses. Four thousand individual pieces of drinkware, each chosen with intention, emotion, and purpose.
This moment feels especially meaningful because there was a time when CupofMood almost disappeared entirely.

From Total Loss to Rebuilding

I lost more than 90% of my inventory. A disaster destroyed my home. I spent two years displaced, waiting to rebuild my life from the ground up.
And yet—here I am.
CupofMood exists today not because everything went smoothly, but because I built it on something deeper than product. I built it on emotion, mental wellness, faithfulness, and the belief that even the smallest things—like a cup—can shift how a day feels.

An Invitation to Explore

This blog is an invitation. An invitation to celebrate what has been rebuilt. To understand what CupofMood truly represents. And to explore how over 4,000 cups came together to create a shop that lives up to its promise: where there’s a cup for your every mood.

More Than a Shop, a Reflection of Real Life

CupofMood was never meant to be just another online store. From the beginning, it was deeply personal. It reflected how I was feeling, what I needed, and what I was learning about myself along the way.
Every cup represents a moment. A laugh. A deep breath. A reminder. A celebration. A pause. That’s why this milestone matters so much. Reaching over 4,000 cups doesn’t just show growth. It shows restoration; it shows consistency; it shows that purpose can survive loss and come back stronger. It also shows that CupofMood isn’t about owning a cup—it’s about choosing how you want to feel.

Why This Milestone Deserves a Pause

In a world that moves fast, it’s easy to rush past moments worth honoring. This is one of those moments.
This remarkable CupofMood milestone represents years of intention. It represents listening instead of rushing. Trusting instead of forcing. Rebuilding instead of giving up. It represents choosing faithfulness when answers weren’t clear. Choosing resilience when circumstances were heavy. And choosing hope when the future felt uncertain.
Most of all, it represents staying true to the original heart of CupofMood—a belief that emotions matter and that small, everyday objects can support mental wellness in powerful ways.

An Invitation to Celebrate Together

This blog isn’t just about telling a story. It’s about sharing it. Whether you’ve been part of the CupofMood journey from the beginning or you’re discovering it for the first time, I invite you to celebrate this milestone with me.
In the next sections, I share how CupofMood truly began, how I rebuilt it after devastating loss, and how it grew into a shop with over 4,000 cups—each one chosen to support a mood, a moment, or a mindset.
This is a story about cups. But more than that, it’s a story about faithfulness, healing, and becoming something stronger than before.

The Fire That Changed Everything

In January of 2023, everything changed in an instant. A house fire completely destroyed my home. Not partial damage. Not smoke cleanup. A total loss. My house had to be rebuilt from the ground up, and with it went nearly everything I owned—including more than 90% of the CupofMood inventory I had spent years curating. At the time of the fire, I had close to 2,000 cups, each chosen intentionally, each one representing a mood, a memory, or a moment. The loss was devastating.
Cups may seem small to some people, but to me they represented comfort, creativity, and control during a season of depression when I desperately needed all three. Losing them felt personal. It felt like grief layered on top of grief—while also trying to process the loss of my home, my sense of safety, and the life I was used to.
Displaced, Yet Anchored

For the next two years, I was displaced. Two full years of waiting, uncertainty, and rebuilding not just a house, but a sense of normalcy. And during that time, CupofMood quietly became something even deeper than a business. It became my anchor.
At first, rebuilding CupofMood wasn’t about growth or milestones. It was about survival. I was grieving what I had lost—not just physically, but emotionally.
So when I moved into an apartment while my home was being rebuilt, I chose one large enough to dedicate a whole room to my CupofMood office. I needed a central place from which I could begin to reconstruct my beloved CupofMood. Especially as I began sourcing cups again, buying widely and intuitively.
Naturally I gravitated toward anything interesting, nostalgic, comforting, or familiar. Every time I came across a cup that had once been part of my original inventory, it felt like reuniting with an old friend.
If you’ve followed me on TikTok, you’ve probably seen some of the videos of when I was sourcing new cups and/or sharing ones I’d sourced.
And yet, even during this rebuilding phase, CupofMood never lost its foundation. From day one, CupofMood has always been organized by mood. That didn’t change after the fire. If anything, it became even more intentional.
As I rebuilt, I made a conscious effort to ensure I was honoring the full spectrum of emotions—joy, humor, nostalgia, faith, sass, peace, reflection, and even grief. I wanted to live up to the promise behind the slogan: “Where there’s a cup for your every mood.”

Finding Purpose in Chaos

Rebuilding inventory gave me something precious during a time when so much felt out of my control: a sense of purpose I could actively participate in. While the house rebuild crawled forward on timelines I couldn’t influence, I could source cups. I could curate moods. I could create something beautiful out of chaos.

Mental Health, Spirituality, and CupofMood

I’ve always been open about my mental health journey, including my battle with depression. It’s not something I shy away from talking about, especially because mental health wellness is often downplayed in the African American community. For me, CupofMood was never just about cups—it was about emotional awareness, self-expression, and giving people permission to acknowledge how they feel without judgment. Some days call for laughter, some call for reflection. Some days call for strength. And some days call for grace.
Faith Beyond Rituals
That belief is deeply connected to my spirituality. I don’t consider myself overly religious, but I am deeply spiritual. My faith doesn’t live in rituals—it lives in meditation, grounding, journaling, and listening. Listening for guidance, listening for reassurance. And importantly, listening for what I’m being nudged to do next.
Over the last almost three years since the fire, my faith has been the single most important thing guiding me through the hardest season of my life. I truly believe God is crazy about me. And because I believe that, I trust that even when things feel unbearable, there is purpose unfolding that I can’t yet see. That belief carried me through days when rebuilding felt exhausting, slow, or overwhelming.

Faith With a Partner

Thankfully, I never had to carry that faith alone. My husband has been my steady reminder to walk by faith when mine started to waver. When I questioned whether I had the energy to keep rebuilding, he reminded me of why I started.
When I felt discouraged, he reminded me of how far I’d already come. In June of 2026, we’ll celebrate 40 years of marriage, and that partnership—built on faith, love, and resilience—has been one of the greatest blessings of my life.
Rebuilding CupofMood: Mindset Shift
In fact, with the support of my husband and the help of my therapist, I had a profound realization: the cups may have been gone, but I wasn’t.
I was the idea behind CupofMood. I was the one who built it from nothing the first time—and that meant I could rebuild it again. This time, though, I wasn’t starting from zero. I had experience, clarity, and a deeper understanding of what CupofMood truly stood for.
That aha moment shifted me from despair to repair, and every decision moving forward was made with intention, purpose, and heart.

The First Chapter of CupofMood

The first chapter of CupofMood was built cup by cup, mood by mood, with intention at its core. At its height, the shop held nearly 2,000 thoughtfully curated cups, each one organized by category and emotion. Back then as you can see in the picture above, I used to store some of the cups on shelves on display in my office.
Funny cups were grouped with funny cups. Inspirational cups had their own space. Nostalgic favorites, thoughtful messages, and words of encouragement were carefully categorized so every cup could be found, packed, and sent with care. With an inventory that large, organization wasn’t optional—it was essential. From the beginning, CupofMood was designed to honor emotions while operating with purpose.
Then came the moment that disrupted everything. After the fire, more than 90% of that carefully built inventory was gone. What remained wasn’t enough to sustain the business as it once existed. For a time, it felt like years of effort had disappeared overnight. The shelves were empty, the systems were broken, and the physical proof of what I had built was suddenly gone.
The first chapter of CupofMood didn’t end with the fire. It simply turned the page—making room for a stronger, wiser chapter built on resilience, intention, and the promise that has always guided the brand: a cup for your every mood.
Another valuable lesson I took from the fire, was storing my valued cups, mugs and glasses differently. I realized how easy it is to damage them when they aren’t protected.
Now, the only ones on display are the ones I’m actively working on putting into the shop.

Travel as a Path to Healing and Discovery

During the two years after the fire, travel became an unexpected source of healing. I journeyed across the United States and throughout the Caribbean, sourcing cups that spoke to different moments, memories, and moods. Some finds felt especially meaningful—particularly when I came across designs identical or similar to cups that had been part of the original inventory. Those moments were quiet affirmations that rebuilding CupofMood was exactly what I was meant to do.
Each cup carried a story, a place, and a reminder that life was still happening—still offering moments of joy even in the middle of loss. Cup by cup, mood by mood, CupofMood began to take shape again. Not as a replacement for what was lost, but as a stronger, more intentional evolution of what it had always been meant to be.

Growing the Inventory

Slowly but surely, the CupofMood Shop began to grow again. One cup became ten. Ten became a hundred. A hundred became a thousand. Eventually, without rushing or forcing the process, the CupofMood inventory surpassed what had once been lost. Reaching over 4,000 cups wasn’t just about the number—it marked a powerful CupofMood milestone rooted in perseverance.
This milestone represents more than quantity. It represents survival, faith in action, and choosing hope on days when rebuilding felt heavy. It represents honoring mental health by acknowledging that emotions matter—and that sometimes something as simple as the right cup can shift your entire mood.

Today’s CupofMood

Today, the CupofMood Shop stands stronger, more intentional, and more emotionally aligned than ever before. Each cup added since the fire carries a story of resilience. Each collection reflects the belief that how we feel matters—and that those feelings deserve to be acknowledged, supported, and celebrated.
One of the things that makes this CupofMood milestone so meaningful is that the inventory didn’t grow randomly. It grew with intention. As I rebuilt after the fire, I wasn’t just adding cups—I was rebuilding balance.
CupofMood has always been organized by mood. That part never changed. What did change was how deeply aware I became of just how important that promise truly is.
When you’ve lived through loss, displacement, and uncertainty, you understand in a new way how emotions can shift from one day to the next—and sometimes from one hour to the next. That awareness shaped every decision as the CupofMood inventory grew toward this milestone of over 4,000 cups.

Funny Mood: Because Laughter Is Medicine

The Funny Mood collection exists for the days when you need a laugh—or at least a smirk. These are the cups that don’t take life too seriously. Sarcastic mugs. Sassy sayings.
Glasses that say the quiet part out loud. During the rebuilding phase, I made sure Funny Mood never took a back seat. Joy matters. Humor matters. Sometimes laughter is the first crack where healing can begin.

Happy Mood: Everyday Joy, Captured

The Happy Mood collection is all about lightness, color, nostalgia, and simple pleasures. These cups celebrate good days, small wins, and moments worth savoring. As the CupofMood inventory grew, this category became a reminder that happiness doesn’t have to be loud. Sometimes it’s a familiar design. A cheerful quote. A cup that just feels good in your hands. This part of the CupofMood milestone represents reclaiming joy after loss.

Holiday Mood: Celebrating No Matter What

Holidays hit differently when you’ve experienced loss. That made rebuilding the Holiday Mood collection especially meaningful. From Christmas mugs to seasonal glasses, this category honors traditions, memories, and the comfort of familiar rituals. Even when everything else feels uncertain, a holiday cup can anchor you to something steady. Ensuring this category stayed well-stocked was my way of saying: celebration still matters.

Inspired Mood: Words That Lift You

The Inspired Mood collection sits at the heart of CupofMood. These are the cups that speak life. Encouragement. Reflection. Hope. As someone who has openly battled depression, I understand the power of a quiet reminder at the right moment. A single word. A single phrase. Something that gently says, keep going. This collection grew intentionally as part of reaching this CupofMood milestone—because inspiration isn’t optional. It’s essential.
Sometimes a single word or message can lift your spirits. Check out this Inspiring blog for cups that encourage reflection and hope.

Khadeeja’s Odds and Ends: Because Not Everything Fits a Box

Some cups don’t fit neatly into a single mood—and that’s okay. Khadeeja’s Odds and Ends exists for the unexpected, the quirky, the one-of-a-kind finds that still deserve a home. This category became especially important while rebuilding. It allowed space for discovery, curiosity, and creativity. It’s proof that CupofMood doesn’t force feelings into boxes—it honors them as they are.

More Than a Shop: A Full CupofMood Experience

The CupofMood milestone isn’t just about inventory. It’s about building a space where people can explore, learn, and connect. That’s where the rest of the website comes in. I publish the CupofMood Blog fresh content about three times a week. I write about drinkware education, collector insights, gift guides, and easy, comforting recipes. Collectors Corner invites people to share their stories.
In fact, cups hold memories, and this space honors the emotional connection people have with the pieces they collect. The CupofMood Club is the reward layer—the gift that keeps on giving. Members get exclusive perks, discounts, and early access.
And now, Web Stories are becoming part of the journey—quick, visual, engaging content designed to spark curiosity and bring new people into the CupofMood world. Together, all of this supports the heart of this CupofMood milestone: creating a space where feelings are valid, moods are honored, and there truly is a cup for every one of them.

The Final Sip: Celebrating the CupofMood Milestone

I have to admit, reaching this CupofMood milestone of over 4,000 cups feels surreal in the best possible way. What began as a quiet idea during a difficult season has grown into something far bigger than I ever imagined—and yet, it still feels deeply personal.
Honoring the Journey, Not Just the Numbers
Overall, this milestone isn’t about chasing numbers. It’s about honoring the journey. In many ways, it’s about choosing faith when circumstances felt overwhelming. It’s about rebuilding with care when starting over felt exhausting. And it’s about believing that even the smallest things—like a cup—can carry meaning, comfort, and hope.
There were moments during the rebuilding process when progress felt slow. Days when uncertainty was loud. Times when I had to remind myself to keep going, even when I couldn’t yet see the full picture. But cup by cup, choice by choice, the CupofMood Shop came back to life.
More Than Inventory: Stories and Resilience
Indeed, every cup now in the inventory is more than a product. It is a story, a lesson, and a moment captured. Each cup represents resilience and intention. Importantly, each cup represents the fact that, no matter what life takes, something good, intentional, and healing can always be rebuilt.
So here’s to 4,000 cups. To faith, healing, and joy; to rebuilding stronger than ever before. To creating a space where moods matter, stories matter, and little things—like a cup—hold the power to change the way I feel. Thank you for being part of this journey.
Until next time,
Namaste,
Khadeeja
