There are Halloween cartoons all kids love that have transcended time. And there are Halloween cartoons only 70s kids loved because they only showed in the 70s.

I did this Put A Finger Down Challenge on my personal TikTok page. It was a blast remembering the Halloween cartoons we loved as kids in the 70s. See how many of them you know or remember.

Do you remember Festival of Family Classics Jack O’Lantern? It’s one of the Halloween Cartoons 70s Kids Love To Remember

Do you remember the series called Festival of Family Classics? For those of you too young to remember, Festival of Family Classics is a Rankin/Bass animated series of famous folk tales and classic literature. They originally aired between 1972 and 1973.  You can check them out in this Youtube video .

The Halloween version was called Jack O’Lantern. The storyline is about a leprechaun, who changed himself into a pumpkin seed to hibernate for the winter. He comes to life as Mr. Jack O’Lantern, who uses his pumpkin shell to help scare away Zelda the Witch and Archibald the Warlock.

So put a finger down if you remember that Halloween classic.

How about Mad, Mad Monsters? Do you remember that Halloween classic? This one involves all of Universal’s greatest classic monsters. They gather at the Transylvania Astoria Hotel for Frankenstein’s monster and his bride’s Friday the 13th midnight wedding. Put a finger down if this is a Halloween cartoon you loved as a kid.

The Fat Albert Halloween Special was a classic Halloween special 70s kids loved

Almost every 70s kid loved watching Fat Albert on Saturday mornings. In this primetime special, Rudy and his new friend, Devray, spend Halloween playing practical jokes. While attempting their Halloween mischief, the Cosby kids get the ultimate scare from the lady who lives in the spooky house by the graveyard.

If you’re in your 40s or older, surely you remember the classic, Bugs Bunny’s Howl-oween Special. If you’re not familiar with it, here’s the plot. Bugs Bunny went out trick or treating as a witch until he came across Witch Hazel’s haunted house. While that’s going on, other Looney Tunes characters run into Halloween-typed situations themselves. Daffy Duck and his nephew have their own encounters with Witch Hazel. Watch until the end to see what happens to Witch Hazel.

Halloween is Grinch Night

The Grinch Who Stole Christmas is a cartoon all kids but especially 70s kids loved. However, many don’t realize Halloween is Grinch night is the prequel to the Grinch Who Stole Christmas. It premiered on ABC on October 28, 1977.

The plot is In Whoville each Halloween, a “Sour-Sweet Wind” blows and a chain of events causes the Gree-Grumps and Hakken-Krakks to arouse the Grinch into descending to Whoville in his paraphernalia wagon and wreaking havoc in the town in “Grinch Night”. All of Whoville dreads the smell of the wind as an omen, and everyone retreats to their home as the whole village goes into lockdown.

In this Halloween classic cartoon, a witch is upset because no one takes Halloween seriously anymore. So she decides to stir things up and disrupt the social gathering in her old house. And she turns a couple of kids who love monsters into actual monsters.

Surely, you remember, Casper the friendly ghost? Well, on Halloween, some of Casper’s nemeses are plotting their mean-spirited tricks to play on people. Casper refuses to join them and decides to go trick trick-or-treating dressed like a real boy. However neighborhood kids see through his disguise and run away in fear. Casper is heartbroken until he meets a special group of orphans who accept him for who he is, a ghost. But just as Casper is having fun with his new friends, some of the other ghostly crew show up to mess everything up. Casper and his new friends have to find ways to stop their ghastly games and save Halloween before it is too late.

I must admit, I was never really much of a Raggedy Ann or Andy fan so I don’t really remember this one. But the plot’s pretty simple. On Halloween, Raggedy Ann and Andy know a boy who needs a pumpkin. They go out in a search for a pumpkin who needs a boy.

The Flintstones Meet Rockula and Frankenstone

And last but certainly not least on my list of classic Halloween Cartoons 70s Kids Love To Remember, is the Flintstones. In this Flintstone Halloween classic, Fred, Wilma, Barney and Betty win a trip to Rocksylvania. While they’re there, Count Rockula mistakes Wilma for his bride.
