From Thrift Store Finds to Comeback Story
Hey CupofMood fam! Let me take you behind the scenes of the astonishing CupofMood comeback story, recently shared in Tampa Voyager Magazine.
Spoiler alert: it’s been a wild ride from battling personal struggles to building a business that inspires moods one cup at a time.
Remember The Pandemic?!
The CupofMood comeback story actually all started during a rough patch in 2020. I was navigating depression, anxiety, and PTSD. It was a very difficult time. I describe it in my Reclaiming My Spirit Blog About Me page.
Unbelievably, even my beloved garden couldn’t lift my spirits.
One Trip Changes Everything
But one thrift store trip changed everything. That trip was the start of CupofMood and ultimately the CupofMood comeback story.
See, I found a simple cup that spoke to me. Well, not literally, of course—but it sparked joy and inspired me to embrace the day with a better attitude.
The Start of A Cup Empire
That little cup became my morning ritual, and soon, my collection (and obsession) grew. I won’t spoil the details. You can read more in the Voyager story.
Cue The Universe!
Before you know it I started getting messages from The Universe.
“You’re meant to do more with these cups.” Initially, I thought posting them on social media was the “more.”
But over time, the idea of CupofMood was born! An online shop where my motto is I have a cup for your every mood!
In fact, that’s one of the things that sets CupofMood apart. You can shop by mood—Funny, Happy, Inspired, or even Holiday. I truly have “a cup for your every mood.”
A Dream Coming True
Launching CupofMood.com in late 2021 felt like my purpose had finally come full circle. I talk about it in this blog post on Reclaiming My Spirit.
The Tragedy That Started The CupofMood Comeback Story
But in January 2023, tragedy struck. A devastating house fire destroyed our home and 95% of my inventory.
What made the tragedy even worse, is it occurred shortly after I heard Jennifer Hudson say this about starting her day.
Rising From The Ashes
The CupofMood comeback story is the story of the phoenix. Because just like a phoenix, CupofMood rose from the ashes.
Thankfully, we just moved back into our house. And with over 3,000 cups now in stock and steady orders pouring in, CupofMood is once again thriving.

As I celebrate being back home and the CupofMood comeback story, once again, I want to take a moment and thank all of you. I detailed my gratitude in this blog post but let me say it once again.
